Terry and Davene: Brookings, Oregon Wedding

How do I begin a post about my best friend’s wedding???

Davene and I got engaged around the same time… and we planned our weddings only a few months apart.  She is in Oregon, and I am in Southern California, so there were a lot of phone calls, text messages, facebook posts, pictures emailed…

She was my maid of honor, and she asked me to be in her wedding as well… but she also wanted me to take some pictures.  After lots of plan making and discussion, we decided the best way for me to do both was for her to hire a photographer to do the family pictures, bridal party pictures, ceremony and the beginning of the reception.  I shot both the girls and guys getting ready, the details, the first look (and some of their portraits) and then finished off the reception.  I wouldn’t have done that for anyone but Davene, but I am so glad I did!

The way Davene and Terry love each other is inspiring.  After watching her date and her heart be broken, and life go on… I am so glad she found such a wonderful man who loves her the way he does.  I am incredibly blessed and honored to have been a part of such an awesome day in so many ways

Here are a few of my favorites (from the parts that I shot).

So many fun details!!!

When I went up to visit a month or so before her wedding, we secretly shot boudoir pics.  She made them into an album and I got to deliver them to her fiance before he saw her on their wedding day.  Loved getting his reaction!!! Oh these boys… The wedding was held in Terry’s mom’s backyard.  They worked FOREVER making every little detail perfect.  Not your typical backyard wedding!  Loved everything they put together.  D Seriously with the details??  Davene made most of the stuff she used at the wedding!! The bridesmaids and groomsmen were given different glasses.  They were personalized and so so cute!  Mine is still in my kitchen! Her candy buffet… The thing with Davene’s wedding is that presentation was gorgeous.  She didn’t just put them in bowls… she made it look GORGEOUS! Loved seeing my FAVORITE engagement picture I took of them in their signature frame.  More special details… Dress! Mama Kim and Sister Tiff helping her get ready. First look.  Love it.  One of my favorite parts of getting to shoot this is that I got reactions because I am her friend.  The following picture was Davene’s reaction to me at something Terry said.  I adore it.  It’s just so her! This may be my favorite.  Ever. I’m sorry.  I may be partial because I love her.  But seriously?!?  Davene.  You are HOT! And Terry… you’re pretty good lookin’ too!! More details.  Gorgeous details. Okay.  I did not even know port-a-potties came in grey and pink.  But Davene found them.  And made them personal.  Would you believe me if I said there was a CHANDELIER in the women’s potty?!?  Because there was. Red Chair Photography, based in Brookings, Oregon shot the wedding ceremony and she did a fantastic job!  I picked back up at the garter and bouquet toss Love that Mike and Juliann caught the garter and bouquet.  They got married about a month after this wedding! Terry and Davene’s baby girl, Sawyer, was there dancing the night away… sans shirt.  Typical of her.  And their little boy, Trent was quite the dancer as well! Love love loved this wedding.  So thankful to have been a part of it!!!  Love my friends!!!  And the following shot of me and Davene was taken by Red Chair Photography.
