Happy Veteran’s Day!!

Why is it I’m always a day late?!?

I haven’t blogged in a week and I am blogging this the day after Veteran’s day, but better late than never, right?

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all of our Veterans.  To all of those who have served, are serving, and the families that served alongside whether they liked it or not.

My life has been drastically changed because of the military.  A few years ago, my husband (although we weren’t married at the time) joined the Army Reserves.  It was a decision he made at the age of 36, after having no military experience.  There have been times since he joined that I have questioned it, and dreaded it, and even hated it.  But at the end of the day I am so so proud.  After a year long deployment that recently ended for us, I am so glad to have him here with me on this Veteran’s Day.

We just came home from South Carolina, where we got to watch Javier’s son graduate from Army Basic Training.  He is also in the Army, and I am so proud of him as well.

My Gramps served in the Coast Guard, and my other grandpa in the Army as well. Javier’s dad, my father-in-law, was in the Army.  So was Javier’s uncle Robert.

I am thankful today, and everyday, for the soldiers in my life.

Thank you all for your service.  And to the family of these men, and all of the other soldiers out there, thank YOU for your sacrifice!

In honor of Veteran’s Day, I thought I’d share a few pictures from Javier’s Homecoming. (Please note that all the photos were taken with a point and shoot or a cell phone!)

The motorcycles that led the buses in.

He was one of the first ones off the bus… and I was right there. There were news cameras everywhere… we showed up on several stations! Javier’s family Javier’s dad (who is also a Veteran) and his mom. Niece and nephews. Being interviewed by the news channels. The ceremony.  He was presented with a flag and awards. So proud. With my mom and dad.
